University Overview

Konkuk University (KU) is one of South Korea's leading private comprehensive universities. Founded in 1946, Konkuk is recognized for its rapid growth, entrepreneurial spirit, and exceptional campus environment. Situated in the heart of Seoul, Konkuk provides international students with a perfect mix of top-tier academic training and a dynamic, culturally rich student lifestyle.

Why Choose Konkuk University?

  1. Unbeatable Location & Campus Vibe: Located in Gwangjin-gu, eastern Seoul, the campus is directly connected to the Konkuk University Subway Station (Lines 2 & 7). The surrounding area is one of Seoul's most famous university districts, bustling with diverse restaurants, trendy cafes, shopping complexes (such as Star City), and street food vendors. Unlike many of Seoul's famously hilly campuses, Konkuk's campus is mostly flat, making it highly walkable and accessible.
  2. The Majestic Ilkam Lake: The centerpiece of the campus is Ilkam Lake (Ilkamho), a massive beautiful body of water where students gather to study, jog, and relax. It is home to local birdlife and serves as the visual and romantic heart of the university.
  3. Practical & Specialized Majors: Konkuk holds unique prestige in several key areas. It boasts the first and most renowned College of Real Estate Sciences in the country, an AACSB-accredited Business School, and highly competitive programs in Veterinary Medicine, Life Sciences, and Art & Design.
  4. K-Culture and Alumni Power: Konkuk's Art & Design programs have produced numerous top-tier actors, musicians, and designers. Famous alumni include BTS's Jin, TWICE's Nayeon, actors Lee Min-ho, Lee Jong-suk, and Song Kang, making it a highly inspiring environment for creative students.

Academic Programs for International Students

Konkuk offers robust undergraduate and graduate tracks across diverse fields:
- Business Administration & Economics: Highly popular among international students, offering practical insights into Korean corporate culture and global business practices.
- Real Estate Sciences: A comprehensive program blending economics, law, construction, and finance, unique to Konkuk University.
- Art & Design: Highly competitive departments spanning Communication Design, Fashion Design, Living Design, and Moving Image Content.
- Engineering & Biotechnology: Strong focus on future-oriented industries with generous research funding and industry partnerships.

Admission Requirements & Eligibility

International applicants generally need to meet the following criteria:
- Academic Qualification: Completion of primary and secondary education (12 years) outside of Korea for undergraduate admissions.
- Language Proficiency:
- Korean Track: Most majors require TOPIK (Test of Proficiency in Korean) Level 3 or higher. Students entering with Level 3 are usually expected to reach Level 4 before graduation.
- English Track: Some limited English-mediated tracks accept TOEFL or IELTS scores for qualification.

Tuition & Scholarships

  • Tuition: On average, humanities and social sciences cost around 4,000,000 KRW per semester, while engineering, biotechnology, and arts programs cost around 4,800,000 KRW to 5,500,000 KRW per semester.
  • Admission Scholarship (Freshmen): Incoming international students receive tuition waivers ranging from 30% to 60% based entirely on their TOPIK score. A higher TOPIK level translates directly to higher tuition waivers.
  • Academic Scholarships (Enrolled Students): Based on GPA from the previous semester, students can qualify for 30% to 100% tuition waivers.
